Graduated in Agronomy from the Botucatu Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences (1969), graduated in Agronomic Sciences from the Botucatu Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences (1971) and PhD in Sciences (PhD) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho ( 1974) and Lecturer in Plant Physiology (1991) by the Biosciences Institute of Universidade Estadual Paulista – UNESP.

Graduated in Agronomic Engineering from the State University of Bahia (1977), master’s degree in Agronomy (Plant Production) from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1982) and doctorate in Biological Sciences (Entomology) from the Federal University of Paraná (1998).
